I love the 4th of July. It’s always been one of my favorite holidays. As I child, it was a time of summer warmth, BBQs, and fireworks. While I still enjoy these things today, the holiday has grown to mean more to me. I now like to take time to remember why this country was founded and the things we take for granted so easily: public education for everyone regardless of gender, race or socioeconomic status; access to good medical care, clean water and indoor plumbing; uncensored information at our finger tips; religious freedom and so on. I know there are other countries that have these things, but I still think it’s important to recognize what you have, and the price that has been paid for it. Happy Independence Day!

Now I’m not sure what you’ll be doing on the 4th, but I imagine my family and I will be camping or boating up in the mountains. It’ll be hot during the day, and cold enough for a light sweater at night (that’s why I’ve included some above). I’m sharing some fun finds for the whole family for the holiday. Enjoy!
