If you have wandered through the soda aisle anytime recently, you may have been caught off-guard by Coca-Cola’s new Diet Coke IT’S MINE glass bottles. They are beautifully designed bottles with bold colors and unique patterns.
In fact, each pattern is so unique that every bottle is different. There are no two bottles exactly alike. I’m so impressed that they were able to create an algorithm that designed such unique bottles. It’s pretty inspiring; and makes me want to find ways to be a little more creative. So today, I’m using these bottles as my medium and creating some very original bookends. If you want to craft along, you can find the bottles in your local Walmart as pictured below.
DIY Bookend Bottles
1. After enjoying the Diet Coke, rinse and dry the outside of the empty bottle.
2. Use painter’s tape to create designs.
3. Spray paint bottles.
4. Carefully remove tape after paint has dried.
5. Fill with sand to make bottles sturdy.
6. Use hot glue gun to seal in sand.
7. (Optional) Add spray-painted branches or flowers for additional decor.
Right now there’s a cool Diet Coke Picture Mosaic hosted on the Coca-Cola Share Refreshing Ideas website. Anyone can upload the crafts they have done with their original bottles. My favorite bottle is the one on the right above. I love how it reminds me of a piece of modern art. I also appreciate how the bottles are a symbolic representation celebrating individuality.
